After some transformations, the current owners implemented an accurate stylish renovation aiming to recover and reinterpret the mid-century style, as a sincere homage to this epic moment of domestic architecture history.

The house, which is distributed in two levels, seeks a rich inside-outside dialogue all along the different spaces. Although authorship is not confirmed, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that the original project could be the work of architect José Ibáñez Valdó, the former dean of the architects association in Alicante and one of the most prolific authors in the region. In any case, the simplicity and rational organisation of the structure is an honest tribute to the spirit of Modern Movement since openness, light and comfort are characteristics of the house. With the light and the views of the surrounding countryside paired with the open spaces and cleans lines of the interior, there is something almost Californian about this house. 

In fact, the open-space organization is the result of the structure mixture of load bearing walls and metallic beams, offering as a main benefit the natural lightning of all the spaces. The way by which light hits the surfaces in the morning, noon and afternoon makes evident the evolution of time all along the day, also showing the nuances in the seasons passing.

With an elegant sense of sobriety, the furnishing selection incorporates both industrial and handcrafts reinterpretations of classic pieces of modern design. That is how, for example, the natural wood pieces of Danish design combine perfectly with typical aspects of the Spanish culture, like the fresh terrazzo flooring.

Located in the town of Alfaz de Pi on Spain's Costa Blanca, El Albir is a popular beach area located about 2 kilometers from the center of Alfaz. Bounded by the town of Altea, the Sierra Helada mountain range and the town of Benidorm and the Mediterranean Sea, the main economic activity in Albir is tourism. The blue flag beach of Raco de Albir is a lovely pebble beach with great views of the coast down to Calpe rock and the surrounding mountains. There is a promenade that makes it possible to stroll from Albir to the neighbouring town of Altea. If an urban beach is not for you, there are smaller secluded coves further along by the lighthouse. Walking to the lighthouse is a popular activity and walkers are rewarded with spectacular views. In the past ten years, the population has grown quite a bit and more than half of the residents of Albir are foreign-born. There are significant Norwegian and British communities. Compared to its larger neighbour to the south, Benidorm, Albir is a quieter and more peaceful area.
